Clancast™ is a novel and very advanced radio stack conceived to provide high speed wireless connection also in high mobile environments.
Clancast™ network layer is a Distributed Hybrid MESH Network protocol stack (Layer 2, 3 & 4 of the ISO-OSI Model) which, together with Reicom HSBRA™ technology, guarantees fast network access and reconfiguration, i.e. hook up time of 94 µsec and “hard handover” of 273 µsec at LLC level.

Examples of Clancast™ applications vary from Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) to Bus, Tram up to high speed trains travelling at more than 300 km/h inside a tunnel.

Clancast™, currently working on IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE 802.11p & DSRC, is IEEE independent, which makes it interoperable with other standards, e.g. Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 a,b,g) and WiMAX (IEEE 802.16). This would translate into its capability to operate immersed into already existing network.

Clancast™ Hybrid MESH operates on both fixed and mobile networks, creating and managing connection not just between vehicles and infrastructure but also between the vehicles themselves, regardless of them being moving or stationary.

Not only, but since Clancast™ operates without hierarchical structure, besides the just mentioned connections, it allows a vehicle, which is not within the cell range, to connect to the infrastructure (through signal hops) via intermediate vehicle in its coverage.
 

When the cells are more than two, Clancast™ not only allows connection within the same cell and the roaming between the cells, but it also manages intra-cell  vehicular connection.

Therefore Clancast™ Hybrid MESH manages fixed backbones, single cell and mobile client synchronization, supporting unicast, cell multicast and broadcast communications, intracell unicast and multicast communication, hybrid free client P2P MESH communication (cloud) without any cell and/or  infrastructure.

Clancast™ alternatives mechanisms for routing data within the network (each node decides the routing for its packets in autonomous way, even regardless of the infrastructure), its unique usage of the geopositioning capabilities built into Reicom HSBRA™ (which translates into its understanding of the network topology and physical layout), allow Clancast™ to maximize the efficiency and average throughput of the network.

Clancast™ capability to managing networks with hundreds or thousands of radio nodes allows the deployment of complex application and futuristic scenarios in which it is required to transmit large and complex masses of data, such as real time audio and video streams, always guaranteeing high Quality of Service (QoS).

Clancast™, combined with HSBRA™, can play a significant role in the Vehicle to Vehicle and Vehicle to Infrastructure applications. In fact, while the HSBRA™ guarantees stable, reliable and deterministic broadband link for safety critical applications, Clancast™ manages non-safety applications (Entertainment/infotainment and Internet access applications) transceiveing data via IEEE 802.11p, even when travelling at 200 or 300 km/h. In the future Clancast™ will be enhanced to communicate with Wi-Fi hot spots and clients using Wi-Fi protocol stack (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n).

Last but not least, Clancast™ works on any type of hardware, starting from simple Wireless Sensor Network radio up to more sophisticated military SDR radio.
